What is a main frame? How is it different from a PC? Discuss.
Ans. Mainframes are powerful computers used mainly by large organizations for critical applications. Mainframe is an industry term for a large computer. The name comes from the way the machine is build up: all units (processing, communication etc.) were hung into a frame. Thus the maincomputer is build into a frame, therefore: Mainframe.
Difference between Mainframe and PC
- Mainframe is Powerfull than PC
- Mainframe is more Costly than PC
- Mainframe needs high maintainance than PC
- Addition of new component is not easy in mainframe
